Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 July 2026
Linglet ("Linglet", "we", "us") is a language-learning service operated by Linglet. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep the data we collect to the minimum needed to run the service.
Who we are
Data controller: Linglet. Contact: help@linglet.app.
What we collect
- Account details — your email address, and (if you use them) a Google or Apple sign-in identifier. When you sign in with Apple you may choose to hide your email, in which case we receive Apple's private relay address.
- Learning data — the words you save, your reading and practice history, streaks, points, quiz results, and your settings (learning language, level, interface language, preferences).
- Content you write — messages you send to the in-app conversation partner and text you submit for writing feedback.
- Voice recordings — if you use the optional pronunciation check, a short audio clip is sent for transcription and is not retained after transcription.
- Usage data — anonymous product analytics (which features are used, in aggregate) to improve the app.
How we use it
- To provide the service — deliver daily stories, track your progress, and personalize your learning.
- To generate feedback — your chat and writing text is processed by our AI provider to produce responses.
- To send email you've opted into — the daily digest and account emails. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To keep the service secure and to understand, in aggregate, how it's used.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Service providers
We share data only with the providers needed to run Linglet, each acting on our behalf:
- Supabase — authentication and database (your account and learning data).
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Anthropic — AI processing of your conversation and writing text.
- Google Cloud — text-to-speech audio and, for the optional pronunciation check, speech-to-text.
- PostHog (EU region) — privacy-friendly product analytics.
- Resend — sending email.
- Stripe — subscription payments. Card details are handled by Stripe; we never see them.
Where data is processed
We operate from the EU and prefer EU processing where available (for example, analytics run in the EU region). Some providers may process data in the United States under appropriate safeguards.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account (see below), your account and associated learning data are removed. Anonymous, aggregated analytics may be retained.
Your rights
- Access & export — you can request a copy of your data.
- Deletion — you can permanently delete your account and its data at any time from your account page (Delete account). This cannot be undone.
- Email preferences — turn the digest off in your account settings or via the unsubscribe link in any email.
- Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR, or California), you may have additional rights to correct, restrict, or object to processing. Contact us to exercise them.
Children
Linglet is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy; we'll change the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email.
